If you could go anywhere, where would you like to go? The mountains, the city, a desert island, outer space?
The hubby bought You Choose! for our 3 year old. I was sceptical if he would be very engaged in this because it’s not a story with words but on each double page there is a question supported by a range of pictures that the child can choose from.
The book was actually an instant hit, my boy absolutely loves it. He doesn’t get bored telling us what he would choose, his choice of Frankenstein for his mum is an interesting one! On a few occasions we have gone through this book 3 or 4 times in one sitting, for our own sanity we have had to distract him from it. Although every time we go through the book we notice things that we haven’t before.
It’s a really interactive book and an opportunity for the child to lead rather than being read to. I like that he’s learning how to make his own choices and developing his imagination. I can see that as he gets older this could be a great tool for making up his own stories.
It’s nice for adults to indulge our own fantasies too, give yourself a new life on a desert island, sleeping in Santa’s sleigh, with a crocodile as a pet!
